Director of Visitor Experience

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced communicator to help achieve our vision of London alive with nature, where everyone can experience and enjoy wildlife. Our Director of Visitor Experience will help us to manage the visitor experience and oversee site operations for nature reserves with visitor centres.

To be responsible for the overall visitor experience and operational management of our sites at Camley Street Natural Park, Walthamstow Wetlands and Woodberry Wetlands, both as nature reserves and visitor attractions including:

  • Creating excellent visitor experiences and customer journeys.
  • Overseeing planning of staffing rotas to ensure agreed staffing levels and the opening and closing of sites as per relevant agreement.
  • Driving revenues and profitability of our cafés, retail, private hire and events businesses.
  • Leading SMT approaches to develop excellent visitor experiences across all of our sites, ensuring integrated approaches from all aspects of the Trust.

Job requirements

  • Experience of managing a visitor centre, nature reserve or similar, operational planning and budgeting.
  • Experience of partnership working and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience of contract management and reporting including monitoring, evaluation & making financial claims
  • Attention to detail and the ability to deliver excellent visitor experience.
